Unfiltered Voices: The SAVE Blog

In the current climate of fear and insecurity, it is more important than ever that women take security into their own hands and stake their claim in the local and global discussions on safety and stability. The SAVE blog functions as a platform for women to voice their concerns, state their opinions, and make suggestions on how to best challenge violent extremism.

The blog highlights unfiltered voices from Pakistan, Palestine, Indonesia, Israel, Yemen, India, the US, England, Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, Bahrain, and Austria, and includes academics, politicians, mothers, sisters, and activists.

Arshi Saleem Hashmi of SAVE Pakistan, for example, briefly analyzed a fascinating discussion on violent extremism she held with Masters level students at the National Defense University in Islamabad: http://womenwithoutborders-save.blogspot.com/2010/07/violent-extremism-in-pakistan-youth.html

Asma Asfour, a Council Member in Sinjel Municipality in Palestine, used the blog to call for a non-violent solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would result in a peace with dignity, and highlighted the role Palestinian women can play in countering violent extremism in this conflict: http://womenwithoutborders-save.blogspot.com/2010/07/non-violence-needs-women-by-asma-asfour.html
