Women without Borders / SAVE Newsletter 23 June 2010

Dear Sisters, dear Women without Borders, dear friends,

We are pleased to share with you a report of the workshops SAVE hosted in the last week of May, 2010, to move our first global campaign, Mothers for Change!, into the implementation stages. Over the course of the week, an amazing group of activists, scholars, and decision makers came together to learn Storytelling strategies for political conflict resolution and reconciliation and to share best practices for transforming Mothers for Change! into a far-reaching social movement that inspires, empowers, and enables women to stand up against violent extremism.

Our latest film, Women Know How!, captures the mission of SAVE through the eyes of some of the participants and trainers from the week of workshops. The courage and determination of these women are the driving forces for standing up against radical ideologies, and Women Know How! illustrates the spirit that moves this innovative campaign forward on the ground. The Way Out: Women Know How! workshop report provides a detailed look at the skills and strategies discussed over the week.

As part of our SAVE initiative, we are also working to develop more platforms to highlight the voices of women on the ground in different ways. Our blog has become one way to gain valuable insight into the perspectives of our SAVE partners worldwide, and there you can read firsthand the unfiltered voices of women regarding political developments and human rights, responses to the Israeli attack on the flotilla, statements about what SAVE means to grassroots activists, and more. You can find our blog at www.womenwithoutborders-save.blogspot.com, and we welcome your responses and input at any time.

We wish you all the best from Vienna. Together we can change the world!

Yours,

Edit Schlaffer and the Women without Borders / SAVE Team
